This artwork by Chiura Obata achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in October this year. In the Prints & Multiples auction, the work Silence, Last Twilight on an Unknown Lake, Johnson Peak sold for USD 12,160.00 (€ 11,506.43) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chiura Obata; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Showa Era (1926-1989) sold at auction in September 2021 with the realized price of USD 15,300.00 (€ 13,215.86).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Chiura Obata erzielte im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints & Multiples wurde die Arbeit Silence, Last Twilight on an Unknown Lake, Johnson Peak für USD 12.160,00 (€ 11.506,43) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Chiura Obata; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Showa Era (1926-1989) im September 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 15.300,00 (€ 13.215,86).
