Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Three Horses by Cheng Zhang was worth HKD 129,800.00 (€ 14,727.93) to a buyer in March 2019. This price was achieved in the auction Important Collections of Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy from Asia at China Guardian in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 40,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Cheng Zhang; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Squirrels And Grapes sold at auction in November 2013 with the realized price of HKD 275,000.00 (€ 26,073.06).
