The work Nanyang Ladies by Chen Chong Swee was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2014. It achieved a price of HKD 118,750.00 (€ 12,225.66), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 70%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chen Chong Swee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nanyang Landscape, which sold at auction in November 2015 for HKD 212,500.00 (€ 25,953.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Nanyang Ladies von Chen Chong Swee wurde im Oktober 2014 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 118.750,00 (€ 12.225,66) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 70%. Für andere Arbeiten von Chen Chong Swee mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nanyang Landscape beobachtet, die im November 2015 für HKD 212.500,00 (€ 25.953,89) versteigert wurde.
