Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Coconut Trees by Chen Chong Swee was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 60,000.00 – 90,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 52,500.00 (€ 5,539.59). Admittedly, works by Chen Chong Swee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nanyang Landscape in November 2015 with an auction result of HKD 212,500.00 (€ 25,953.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Coconut Trees von Chen Chong Swee im April 2018 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 60.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 52.500,00 (€ 5.539,59) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chen Chong Swee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nanyang Landscape im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 212.500,00 (€ 25.953,89).
