Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2010 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Edmund Burke Osborne by Charles Webster Hawthorne. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 5,973.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Webster Hawthorne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portuguese Fisherboy in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 298,000.00 (€ 271,056.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2010 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Edmund Burke Osborne von Charles Webster Hawthorne zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 5.973,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Webster Hawthorne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portuguese Fisherboy im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 298.000,00 (€ 271.056,94).
