Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Grapes, Oranges, Peaches, A Melon, And A Ceramic Jug; And Grouse, A Mallard, Grapes, Pears, A Wicker Basket, And A Ceramic Pot, On A Marble Ledge by Charles Thomas Bale was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,547.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Thomas Bale have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pineapples, Grapes, Plums and Pears on a Silver Tray with a Jar on a Draped Wooden Ledge in February 2003 with an auction result of USD 7,170.00 (€ 6,651.82).
