Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman by Charles Shirreff was sold in the Important Miniatures from a Private Collection auction at Sothebys in London in April 2008. The price achieved of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,187.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Shirreff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young lady called Miss Caroline [..., facing right in lace-bordered white dress with blue detail at right shoulder, white stole draped around her neck, tied blue ribbon in her long powdered curling hair|AID902686], which sold at auction in December 2002 for GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,704.42).
