Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work Anthony Deane, In Light Brown Coat, White Waistcoat And Frilled Cravat, Powdered Hair by Charles Shirreff. The price achieved of GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,780.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Shirreff have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young lady called Miss Caroline [..., facing right in lace-bordered white dress with blue detail at right shoulder, white stole draped around her neck, tied blue ribbon in her long powdered curling hair|AID902686] in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,704.42).
