Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Full Length, Seated Playing A Cello, A Spinet Behind by Charles Philips was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2009. The price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,285.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Philips achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of a family, possibly members of the Vernon family, with a servant, in an elegant interior in March 2008 with an auction result of GBP 54,500.00 (€ 68,465.52).
