Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction Early British Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of Two Gentlemen by Charles Philips. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,347.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Philips have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Group portrait of a family, possibly members of the Vernon family, with a servant, in an elegant interior in March 2008 with an auction result of GBP 54,500.00 (€ 68,465.52).
