Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Charles Maurin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2020. In the Refining Taste: Works Selected by Danny Katz auction, the work At The Ball sold for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,039.29) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Maurin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La mer, which sold at auction in March 2017 for EUR 47,500.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Charles Maurin erzielte im Mai 2020 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Refining Taste: Works Selected by Danny Katz wurde die Arbeit At The Ball für GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.039,29) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Maurin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit La mer beobachtet, die im März 2017 für EUR 47.500,00 versteigert wurde.
