Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Miami Bowindow 1.30 P.M by Charles Matton was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in December 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 1,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at EUR 5,750.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Matton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hommage À Georges Pérec Ii in March 2019 with an auction result of EUR 40,000.00.
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Miami Bowindow 1.30 P.M von Charles Matton im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 1.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 5.750,00 mehr als dreimal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Matton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hommage À Georges Pérec Ii im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 40.000,00.
