Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Scouting Party by Charles Marion Russell was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 212,500.00 (€ 180,482.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Marion Russell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Meat for the Tribe in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 1,472,000.00 (€ 1,243,033.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Scouting Party von Charles Marion Russell kam im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 212.500,00 (€ 180.482,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Marion Russell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Meat for the Tribe im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.472.000,00 (€ 1.243.033,27).
