Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Roping a Wolf by Charles Marion Russell for USD 625,000.00 (€ 536,618.87). This price was achieved in the auction The Legend of the West: Iconic Works from the T. Boone Pickens Collection at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 700,000.00 – 1,000,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Marion Russell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Meat for the Tribe, which sold at auction in December 2005 for USD 1,472,000.00 (€ 1,243,033.27).
