Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Charles Marion Russell could be acquired at Christies in New York in October 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Legend of the West: Iconic Works from the T. Boone Pickens Collection auction, the work Indians on Horseback changed hands for USD 43,750.00 (€ 37,563.32) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Marion Russell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Meat for the Tribe in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 1,472,000.00 (€ 1,243,033.27).
