Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2021 Christies in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work Portrait of Charles Ricketts, painted at Kennington Road, Lambeth by Charles Haslewood Shannon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 32,249.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Haslewood Shannon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Rose and Blanche (Les Marmitons), which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 53,775.00 (€ 78,509.80).
