In April 2014 Christies in London held the auction Robert Kime, David Bedale, Piers von Westenholz and Christopher Gibbs - The English Home, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, bust-length by Charles Haslewood Shannon. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,521.54), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Haslewood Shannon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rose and Blanche (Les Marmitons) in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 53,775.00 (€ 78,509.80).
