In September 2020 Phillips in New York held the auction New Now, which included the work Explosion #29 by Charles Gaines. The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 17,067.76) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Gaines achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Numbers And Trees: Central Park Series Iv: Tree #6, Carmichael in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 475,000.00 (€ 426,047.18).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im September 2020 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit Explosion #29 von Charles Gaines zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 17.067,76) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Gaines erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Numbers And Trees: Central Park Series Iv: Tree #6, Carmichael im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 475.000,00 (€ 426.047,18).
