Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Atlantic Transport Line Steamship Minnentonka under pilot escort entering the harbour at Boulogne by Charles Edward Dixon was auctioned at Bonhams in April this year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,295.00 (€ 2,615.55). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Edward Dixon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work R.M.S. Titanic clearing the dockside at Southampton, 10th April, 1912 in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 19,200.00 (€ 28,254.10).
