The work 'Below Blackwall' by Charles Edward Dixon was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in London in October last year. It achieved a price of GBP 2,805.00 (€ 3,267.79), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 40%. Admittedly, works by Charles Edward Dixon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work R.M.S. Titanic clearing the dockside at Southampton, 10th April, 1912 in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 19,200.00 (€ 28,254.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit 'Below Blackwall' von Charles Edward Dixon wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Marine Sale bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.805,00 (€ 3.267,79) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 40%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Edward Dixon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit R.M.S. Titanic clearing the dockside at Southampton, 10th April, 1912 im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.200,00 (€ 28.254,10).
