Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Brothers At October Fair, Ballinasloe by Cecil Maguire was sold in the British & Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in May 2014. The price achieved of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,837.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cecil Maguire - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Waiting for the Boat, Kilronan, Inishmore, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 11,352.50 (€ 17,032.93).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.837,90) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Cecil Maguire mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Waiting for the Boat, Kilronan, Inishmore beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für GBP 11.352,50 (€ 17.032,93) versteigert wurde.
