Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Riley'S Place, Belfast by Cecil Maguire was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,619.62). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cecil Maguire - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Waiting for the Boat, Kilronan, Inishmore, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 11,352.50 (€ 17,032.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Riley'S Place, Belfast von Cecil Maguire im November 2012 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.619,62) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Cecil Maguire mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Waiting for the Boat, Kilronan, Inishmore beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für GBP 11.352,50 (€ 17.032,93) versteigert wurde.
