Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II, which included the work View Of A Moonlit Mediterranean Harbor by Carlo Bonavia. Here, the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 81,250.00 (€ 71,966.34). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlo Bonavia - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive Italianate river landscape with travellers and soldiers in the foreground, a Roman aqueduct beyond, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 119,250.00 (€ 194,909.42).
