Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sunrise With Fishermen Launching A Boat; Sunset With Fishermen Unloading Boats by Carlo Bonavia was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 42,050.00 (€ 51,859.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlo Bonavia - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive Italianate river landscape with travellers and soldiers in the foreground, a Roman aqueduct beyond, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 119,250.00 (€ 194,909.42).
