Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work Marina con pescatori; e Marina con arco roccioso e figure by Carlo Bonavia for EUR 76,400.00. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Pictures at Christies in Milan and was even below the estimate range of EUR 80,000.00 – 120,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlo Bonavia - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive Italianate river landscape with travellers and soldiers in the foreground, a Roman aqueduct beyond, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 119,250.00 (€ 194,909.42).
