In December 2013 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work A Coastal Landscape With Stevedores Unloading A Ship And Fishermen Throwing Out Their Nets At Sunrise, Other Figures On The Shore By A Fortress, Possibly The Castello Di Baja by Carlo Bonavia. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 52,500.00 (€ 63,149.36). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlo Bonavia - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive Italianate river landscape with travellers and soldiers in the foreground, a Roman aqueduct beyond, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 119,250.00 (€ 194,909.42).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
