Auction result well in line with expectations

It changed hands for a price of GBP 45,000.00 (€ 56,759.15) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlo Bonavia - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive Italianate river landscape with travellers and soldiers in the foreground, a Roman aqueduct beyond, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 119,250.00 (€ 194,909.42).
