In June 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings Including German, Austrian and Central European Paintings, The Orientalist Sale, Spanish Painting and the Scandinavian Sale, which included the work French un Mameluk Entrainant Son Cheval, Une Citadelle A L'Arriere-Plan by Antoine Charles Horace Vernet. The price achieved of GBP 91,250.00 (€ 110,968.49) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. Other works by Antoine Charles Horace Vernet have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2003 the work A Skirmish with the Cossacks during Napoleon's Russian Campaign of 1812 was auctioned for USD 153,100.00 (€ 124,674.27).
