Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2000 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Cab Calloway; and Marlon Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire by Carl van Vechten. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,115.00 (€ 2,326.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carl van Vechten - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Man Ray, 1934, which sold at auction in November 2012 for EUR 6,250.00.
