Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2010 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction European Noble and Private Collections incl. Fine Paintings, which included the work An equestrian portrait of King Frederick II of Prussia (1712-1786), in military dress by Carl Adolph Heinrich Hess. It changed hands for a price of EUR 1,875.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carl Adolph Heinrich Hess achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ural Cossacks with their Ataman D.M. Borodin during the Suvorov Swiss Campaign in 1790 in October 2003 with an auction result of USD 57,360.00 (€ 49,409.94).
