Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Linnaeus Tripe could be acquired at Christies in London in September 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19C INDIAN PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE KANWARDIP GUJRAL COLLECTION auction, the work Entrance to the Temple of Minakshi in the Great Pagoda changed hands for GBP 4,935.00 (€ 7,967.92) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Linnaeus Tripe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Views of India, Indonesia and Myanmar (Burma), c. 1858 in September 2017 with an auction result of USD 107,500.00 (€ 91,001.44).
