Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three colours (Blue, Yellow and Turquoise) Precipitating Magenta by Bridget Riley was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in London in February 2020. The price achieved of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 231,800.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bridget Riley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Diagonal Curve) in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 4,338,500.00 (€ 5,207,615.75).
