Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work Thendara, Twiga and Altair jostling for position off St. Tropez by Brian J. Jones. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,861.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Brian J. Jones - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Storming the Cowes Roads, 1930: Astra leading with Westward, Candida, Britannia and Lulworth behind, which sold at auction in October 2008 for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,543.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Thendara, Twiga and Altair jostling for position off St. Tropez von Brian J. Jones zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.861,70) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Brian J. Jones mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Storming the Cowes Roads, 1930: Astra leading with Westward, Candida, Britannia and Lulworth behind beobachtet, die im Oktober 2008 für GBP 10.625,00 (€ 13.543,06) versteigert wurde.
