Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Brett Whiteley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne in November 2020. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work Untitled Painting III, 1961 sold for AUD 553,500.00 (€ 463,257.45) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Brett Whiteley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Opera House, which sold at auction in May 2007 for AUD 2,880,000.00 (€ 1,770,858.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Brett Whiteley erzielte im November 2020 bei Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled Painting III, 1961 für AUD 553.500,00 (€ 463.257,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Brett Whiteley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian Opera House beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für AUD 2.880.000,00 (€ 1.770.858,54) versteigert wurde.
