Artwork auctioned at three times the pre-set estimate
When the work San Francisco, China Gem by Bertrand Meniel was auctioned at VAN HAM in December 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 8,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at EUR 30,960.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Bertrand Meniel; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Munsterbridge sold at auction in June 2020 with the realized price of EUR 42,570.00.
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit San Francisco, China Gem von Bertrand Meniel im Dezember 2020 bei VAN HAM versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 8.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 30.960,00 mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Bertrand Meniel; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Munsterbridge im Juni 2020 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 42.570,00.
