Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian Queen Victoria In Her Coronation Robes by Bertram Mackennal. The price achieved of AUD 4,800.00 (€ 2,822.01) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bertram Mackennal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Circe, c.1902-04 in November this year with an auction result of AUD 196,800.00 (€ 119,328.49).
