Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Australian Truth by Bertram Mackennal for AUD 72,000.00 (€ 43,561.66). This price was achieved in the auction Important Paintings at Sothebys in Sydney and was even below the estimate range of AUD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bertram Mackennal - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Circe, c.1902-04, which sold at auction in November this year for AUD 196,800.00 (€ 119,328.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Australian Truth von Bertram Mackennal für AUD 72.000,00 (€ 43.561,66) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Important Paintings bei Sothebys in Sydney erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Bertram Mackennal mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Circe, c.1902-04 beobachtet, die im November diesen Jahres für AUD 196.800,00 (€ 119.328,49) versteigert wurde.
