Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Apricot Roses (Marilyn Monroe - The Last Sitting), 1962, printed 2008 by Bert Stern was auctioned at Bonhams in October this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,280.00 (€ 1,469.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bert Stern achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Marilyn Monroe, 'The Last Sitting', 1962, an exhibition presented at seventh 'Mois de la Photo à Paris', 1992 in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 146,500.00 (€ 105,251.81).
