Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Four studies after cameos, three with classical profile portraits and one with a fragmentary relief of Cupid and two lions drawing a chariot by Bernard Picart was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ 901.79). Admittedly, works by Bernard Picart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Allegorical Frontispiece, Perhaps A Reflection On Human Frailty in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,855.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Four studies after cameos, three with classical profile portraits and one with a fragmentary relief of Cupid and two lions drawing a chariot von Bernard Picart im Juli 2010 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
