Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Latin American Sale Evening Session, which included this untitled work by Benjamin Cañas. The »bidding war« ended at USD 29,800.00 (€ 19,151.67), 19% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Benjamin Cañas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Nightwatch of Dr. Kauffman, which sold at auction in November 2005 for USD 60,000.00 (€ 50,890.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Latin American Sale Evening Session durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Benjamin Cañas zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 29.800,00 (€ 19.151,67) und damit 19% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Benjamin Cañas mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Nightwatch of Dr. Kauffman beobachtet, die im November 2005 für USD 60.000,00 (€ 50.890,59) versteigert wurde.
