Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Recto: The Head Of Christ Verso: Study For A Flagellation by Benedetto Luti was sold in the Old Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in London in July 2007. The price achieved of GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,605.05) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 16,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benedetto Luti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegory of the Elevation of Cardinal Deacon Oddone Colonna to the Papal Chair as Pope Martin V in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 222,500.00 (€ 228,041.41).
