Auction result well in line with expectations
The work God cursing Cain after the murder of Abel by Benedetto Luti was auctioned at Christies in London in July this year. The price achieved of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 11,760.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benedetto Luti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegory of the Elevation of Cardinal Deacon Oddone Colonna to the Papal Chair as Pope Martin V in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 222,500.00 (€ 228,041.41).
