This artwork by Benedetto Luti achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2013. In the Old Master Drawings auction, the work Allegory Of The Elevation Of Cardinal Deacon Oddone Colonna To The Papal Chair As Pope Martin V sold for USD 302,500.00 (€ 222,688.46) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Benedetto Luti; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Allegory of the Elevation of Cardinal Deacon Oddone Colonna to the Papal Chair as Pope Martin V sold at auction in January 2000 with the realized price of USD 222,500.00 (€ 228,041.41).
