Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a young girl wearing a red dress , half-length, turned three-quarters to the left and holding a mirror by Benedetto Luti was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 32,900.00 (€ 53,198.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Benedetto Luti have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Allegory of the Elevation of Cardinal Deacon Oddone Colonna to the Papal Chair as Pope Martin V in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 222,500.00 (€ 228,041.41).
