Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2004 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work Lord Lonsdale jumping the Great Dalby Brook by Basil Nightingale. The price achieved of GBP 956.00 (€ 1,422.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Basil Nightingale achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Breaking Cover in June 2013 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,425.63).
