Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Joe Bell'S Council House by Basil Blackshaw was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2019. The price achieved of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 73,390.28) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Basil Blackshaw - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Fall, which sold at auction in September 2017 for GBP 162,500.00 (€ 184,358.33).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 62.500,00 (€ 73.390,28) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Basil Blackshaw mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Fall beobachtet, die im September 2017 für GBP 162.500,00 (€ 184.358,33) versteigert wurde.
