Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Clouds by Balcomb Greene was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,990.43). Admittedly, works by Balcomb Greene have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Balanced Moving in February 2016 with an auction result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 23,003.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Clouds von Balcomb Greene im Februar 2016 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.990,43) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Balcomb Greene auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Balanced Moving im Februar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 23.003,31).
