Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Towing in the windjammer past St. Antony's Head by Arthur Wilde Parsons was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 940.00 (€ 1,575.93). Admittedly, works by Arthur Wilde Parsons have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Towing out the tramp in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 8,962.50 (€ 13,447.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Towing in the windjammer past St. Antony's Head von Arthur Wilde Parsons im Mai 2001 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 940,00 (€ 1.575,93) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arthur Wilde Parsons auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Towing out the tramp im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.962,50 (€ 13.447,05).
