Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Racing cutters tacking inshore off Ryde Pier by Arthur Wellington Fowles was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 8,975.41) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Arthur Wellington Fowles have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Indian troopship Serapis arriving at Portsmouth, 11 May 1876, with H.R.H. The Prince of Wales aboard her on his return from India, and the Royal yacht Osborne following her in in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 36,489.33).

The Indian troopship Serapis arriving at Portsmouth, 11 May 1876, with H.R.H. The Prince of Wales aboard her on his return from India, and the Royal yacht Osborne following her in im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 22.325,00 (€ 36.489,33).
