Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Queen Victoria, Aboard The Royal Yacht Fairy, Inspecting The Baltic Fleet As It Prepares To Sail In March 1854 by Arthur Wellington Fowles was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2005. The price achieved of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,814.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Arthur Wellington Fowles have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Indian troopship Serapis arriving at Portsmouth, 11 May 1876, with H.R.H.
